Welcome
Knowing God, Loving God, Loving People
About Us
Here at Kern Heights Baptist Church, we have a simple hope: to see people come to know Jesus Christ and grow in their Christian faith.
Next Steps
I want to know more. How do I get started?
KNOWING GOD
The foundational step in life is the ability to know God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Anyone can know about God. Jesus defined eternal life this way in John 17:3, “And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” We would love to tell you more about this, so you can know God personally.

HELP OTHERS
Simply knowing about God is not adequate for life with God; you must know Him personally. The word “know” is used in Scripture to describe the intimacy between a husband and wife that produces a child (Genesis 4:1). So, “knowing God” describes a close, personal relationship with Him. And, here’s the best part: knowing God doesn’t start when you get to heaven. It is something you can have right now through Jesus Christ (John 3:36).
LOVING GOD
Once you have a relationship with God, your highest priority is loving God. Jesus was once asked which commandment was the most important of all. His answer? “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37) Everything in life flows out of loving God this way.
RELATIONSHIP
Loving God is more than a warm fuzzy feeling. Loving God is obeying God – rarely easy, sometimes inconvenient, often painful, and entirely satisfying. In John 14:15, Jesus told His disciples, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” When we love God we don’t look at obedience as following a set of rules; we look at obedience as something we do out of love. How much we love God is reflected by the degree of commitment we have to following Him.
LOVING PEOPLE
Jesus followed up his answer in Matthew 22:37 by adding the importance of loving people as well. “And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” You cannot truly love God unless you love people also.
LOVING PEOPLE
Love is more than a feeling; love is demonstrated by our actions. The Bible describes love this way – “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7a) Kern Heights is far from a perfect church but we try to love people inside and outside the church with this type of love.
GRACE & TRUTH
Jesus Christ is the perfect balance of “grace and truth” (John 1:17). Jesus taught the truth but He was there to help people when they failed to live up to the standard truth requires. We try to do the same thing at Kern Heights.
